The great phenomenon of Minibus in the first quarter of 2021

1. The decreasing amplitude of bus export more than 30%

According to the data of China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, China exported 41,100 buses (including medium-sized buses and minibusses) in 2020. It was down 34.45% year on year and decreasing expand to 22.83% compared to 2019. In 2020, bus export accounted for 9.4% of the total automobile sales, down by 4.37% year on year. The declining trend of bus export is an important factor that restrains the growth of the whole automobile market.


2. Exports are mainly minibus models


From the percentage of export bus types, the minibus is the most in 2020. It took the percentage of 63.2, following the big bus take the percentage of 29.8. And the least is the medium-sized bus of 7.1%. The main reason should be the price of minibus 2021 is good and could be more widely used. Moreover, the demands of minibus 2021 are quite big.

From the changes of export units, the export of medium-sized buses in 2020 reached 2,900 units, with a year-on-year decline of 49.3%. It is the biggest decline. 3. Export to Egypt accounted for more than 20% of the market


In 2020, Egypt is the largest export market of Chinese bus, accounting for 23.8% of the export market sharing. Saudi Arabia and Peru occupy the second and third respectively. And the percentage is 15.8% and 6.3% of the export market sharing respectively. Other countries or regions are less. On the whole, Chinese bus export to developed countries is less. 4. The One Belt and One Road Marketing bucked the trend


From 2016 to 2019, the Chinese bus export to the One Belt One Road countries or regions.
Is increasing year by year, and the export has been declined due to the COVID-19 in 2020, the export unit is 27,700; From the perspective of export proportion, from 2016 to 2020, the Chinese bus export to the One Belt One Road countries or regions is increasing year by year. It reached 67.4% in 2020. This reflects that One Belt One Road countries or regions become the main marketing of China’s bus export.


5. Automobile export marketing pressure getting recovery


As the impact of COVID-19, the export of automobiles has declined 13% from January to December 2020, from the export structure of automobile, the truck has the best performance in 2020, declined 9% year-on-year. Europe marketing stands out for market share growth. It increased 40% compares to the same period of last year, export reached 169,506 units.
Main export marketing is mainly to Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Egypt, the United States, and other markets in 2020, Sweden, the Russian and Australian market also shows strong performance. And even the Belgian market become the incremental core market. In general, the COVID-19 has a certain impact on the export of Chinese automobiles. However, we believe it will get better and better with everyone’s effort.


6. The export of the first quarter in 2021


Time flies, the first quarter of 2021 has passed, truck export still increasing, how’s the status of commercial cars (Bus, minibus 2021 and etc)? It becomes the focus of the automobile industry. According to the data from China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, the sales is 112,000 units in the first quarter of 2021, an increase of 26.9% compares to the same period of last year. The growth rate is only 9% lower than the 78.1% growth rate of the truck marketing in the first quarter. Obviously, the gap between the growth rate of the commercial car (Bus, minibus 2021) market and the truck market in the first quarter of this year is narrowed by 18.2%. In other words, the commercial car (Bus minibus 2021) market is accelerating in the first quarter of this year.

You can tell from the above chart, commercial cars (Bus, minibus 2021) increased by nearly 70% (69%) in the first quarter of 2021 compared with the same period of last year, which was 9.1% lower than the trucks. In 2020, commercial cars (Bus, minibus 2021) decreased by 5.6% compared with the same period of last year, 27.3% lower than the trucks of 21.7% increased. 7. Different types of bus performance in first quarter of 2021


Types of bus performance in the first quarter of 2021, minibus marketing increased 81.1% year-on-year, compares with medium-sized bus increased 26.2%, minibus 2021 higher 54.9%, compares with the total bus marketing, minibus 2021 higher 12.1%.

It shows the trend of turn “Big” to “mini” obviously, and the trend is accelerating, but the large and medium-sized bus is not turning better.
